Criminal psychologist Erin Larson's dreams of a successful career come to a screeching halt when she nearly loses her own life in a boating accident on Puget Sound and then learns that her mother tried to commit suicide. She leaves her job as a criminal psychologist to care for her mother in Montana. At least she is able to produce her podcast, which focuses on solving missing persons cold cases.

Nathan Campbell's father was investigating such a case when he was shot, and now Nathan needs to enlist Erin's help to solve the case. She's good at what she does. The only problem? She's his ex.

As the two dig deeper, it becomes clear that they, too, are being targeted--and that the answers to their questions are buried deep within the past Erin struggles to explain and longs to forget.

The race is on for the truth in this gripping and complex tale of suspense, intrigue, and murder from USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard.

My Thoughts

I have been looking forward to reading this book since I read the first one last year. Although you could definitely read this as a stand alone novel you do see some of the characters from the previous story so if you want to know some of the back story of those characters and a little bit of Erin's as well I recommend reading the first book. Once again Elizabeth Goddard did a great job at captivating me with her story. She definitely pulls you in with the intrigue and mystery behind this story and the twist and how it all connected was not something I was expecting! So that was a nice surprise while reading.

Erin and Nathan, our main characters, are both believable and it was nice to see how their relationship re-developed throughout the story. Despite them being the main characters this story is definitely plot driven. So, although you do get a little romance between them it's not the whole story so we don't see too much of that. The author did a great job at weaving faith through the story. I thought that was refreshing as I didn't think there was a huge emphasis on faith in the first book.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the story I feel like it ended a bit abruptly and I feel like there are still some loose ends from the first book that were not addressed or finished. Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself and they will be coming in the third book so I am looking forward to reading that one as well.

If you enjoy mystery and action in your stories then you will like this series and this book!

My Rating: 4 Stars/Really Liked it
