Anna Bentley needs a new life. Struggling in a long-term marriage with two children and carrying a secret that stole her joy many years ago, she begins to search for the key to happiness in marriage and in life. My Thoughts

It took me a while to get into this story. I kept glancing at the back of the book to make sure I was reading a Christian fiction book and here's why. The  beginnings of the story read as a regular mainstream contemporary women's fiction.  There is a bit of colorful language that I wasn't expecting and some mentions of intimate aspects of married life that I also wasn't expecting but that being said the main character of this story is not a Christian and neither are the people that she is surrounded by. This changes as we continue reading her story. That being said I think the author could've gotten her point across without having to use any of that.

I personally didn't connect with Anna's character, while I felt bad for her at times I wanted to shake some sense into her and make her appreciate the blessings that were all around her. Good thing she had her friend Vicky to instill that wisdom into her. This is the first book in a series of three so it will be interesting to see where the story and this family ends up in their journey.

I really enjoyed Donna Wyland style of writing. I especially liked the titles on each chapter that gave you a bit of a clue of what the chapter would be about. I also liked the Group Guide at the end as I think this would be a great Book Club book as it will bring forth lots of conversations.

Overall I thought this book was well written and brought forth a message of God's grace and unconditional love.

My Rating: 4 Stars/ Really Liked it

I received a copy of this book from the author. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
