Troll Princess Horra Fyd and young druid Rowan team up to reverse the evil Erlking’s spells and save the creatures across the Wilden Lands. However, Fairy Princess Glory Toppenbottom is still a thorn in Horra’s side. After Horra and Glory have a heated fight, Glory sneaks out of the castle. She is bent on finding the Erlking to reverse the hex he cast on her. This creates a political disaster when the Glory’s sister announces she’s coming to retrieve Glory.

Angered by Horra’s treatment of a royal guest, King Fyd proclaims Horra to be Queen Bearer. She becomes the ad hoc ruler, freeing her father from the scandal. Shocked, Horra assents. Her first move is to find the missing fairy princess before it becomes an interkingdom war. They form a search party and leave.

The Erlking stalks their every move. When the only choice points them toward the Riven, a cursed hidden land, they don’t hesitate. They find Glory is already there, but are immediately separated. The Riven is nothing like anyone imagined. Will they survive the Erlking’s magical traps, or will they, like everyone else, perish within its borders?

My Thoughts

If it hadn’t been for the trolls, Glory would still be in her Shining Kingdom, celebrated as the brightest creature to exist in a lifetime. More beautiful even than her twin sister, Misty. Her life would be full of art, laughter, and most of all, music.

Music. She laughed, but there was no humor in it. She thought back to where it all began—the Erlking disguised as a dark fairy prince who loved melodies as much as she did. He’d caught her eye with his pale skin and spiked black hair. He was everything she wasn’t supposed to want but did. Her rebellion against her controlling mother and perfect sister had been sweet.

Except it had all been a ruse. He’d lured her with his dark enchantment like a fisher hooking an innocent glimmerfish. He tricked her into mesmerizing her mother first, her sister next, and then used them all to invade the troll kingdom to gain access to the troll princess.

Betrayal and contempt warred for dominance in her heart. How could she have been so gullible? She shook her head. The Erlking knew a fairy’s weakness lay in their beauty and love of artful things. He’d used that knowledge to his advantage.

Finding Juniper by Cindy Thomson ~ Book Spotlight

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Finding Juniper by Cindy Thomson, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About the Book

Finding Juniper

 Title: Finding Juniper
 Author:
Cindy Thomson
 Publisher:
Emerald Path Press
 Release Date: January 2, 2025
 Genre: Christian Fiction, Historical Fiction

For Patrick Doyle, the claim that time heals all wounds is a  cruel lie.

In 1920, returning from WWI, Paddy finds Ireland creeping   toward civil war. Invisible borders separate people, including   Paddy and his pregnant girlfriend. With few prospects,   Paddy  sails to America. However, America is far from the   land of opportunity he’d hoped for. And worse, his girl   refuses to follow him because of her political involvement.

Thirty years later, Patrick has moved on with his life, building a new family. A letter arrives, suggesting the child he’d assumed died may be alive. Patrick’s American daughter Mardell pushes him to find out what happened to her sister, named Juniper. Patrick anxiously sails to Ireland.

Juniper endured a childhood in institutions, and when she’s released, she moves on without the parents who left her. Operating an apothecary out of an inherited cottage where villagers are slow to trust outsiders, Juniper finally finds a home when her grandmother arrives. Just as she feels comfortable and content, her father shows up at her door, bringing shocking news about her mother.

Finding Juniper invites readers on a journey of confronting the past, healing from old traumas, and redefining what family truly means.

Excerpt

Patrick

Early April 1950, Golden, Ohio

Patrick stood at the mailbox and examined the envelope in his hand. Addressed to Paddy
Doyle and postmarked Ireland. Who back there had anything to say to him after all these years?
His mother had been dead for decades. He flipped the letter from one hand to the other. A
long-lost relative? A distant cousin, perhaps. Patrick slid his finger under the seal and removed
the paper inside. The handwriting was crude, so unlike the florid script written with a fountain
pen on the outside. This was a child’s pencil scrawling. Peering at the words, he had to steady
himself against the mailbox post. He glanced up and gazed at rows of budding green stalks
dotting the cornfield across the way.
The one thing. The only thing that could ever make him return to Ireland was written on the
paper. But was it real? Could his child have actually written this?
To my Da, whoever you were,
You left me. I want you to come back and say why. Why did you go away, Da? Because I am
not a boy? I’m ugly? Too dirty? Too sick? Too poor? I wish you’d come back but you can’t.

Before the King by Hearher Kaufman ~ Book Review

January 21, 2025

About the Book

Book: Before the King
Author: Heather Kaufman
Series: Women of the Way, Book 2
Genre: Biblical Fiction
Publisher: Bethany House
Release Date: January 21, 2025

Joanna's wealthy family aspires to Herod's inner circle, but when her father's esteemed position in the Sepphoris Sanhedrin is threatened, her family resorts to harboring a dark secret. As Joanna navigates the complexities of aristocratic life and an arranged marriage, she is caught between loyalty to her family and her own desires. When tragedy strikes, leading to a life-altering injury and a startling encounter with Herod's financial minister, Joanna must grapple with a new future--one that challenges her sense of duty and hope for love.

Years later, Joanna is forever changed when a rabbi comes preaching a new kingdom and healing the sick. Yet, she treads a perilous path between a court that mocks Jesus of Nazareth, a community of believers who views her with suspicion, and a husband who guards his own secrets. As pressure increases, Joanna must protect her allegiance to the Christ, whose message is as compelling as it is dangerous.

In this gripping narrative, rising author Heather Kaufman weaves a tale of faith, resilience, and love amid the danger of King Herod's court.

My Thoughts

Oh wow! I fell in love with Heather’s writing with her book Up from Dust and have been eagerly awaiting this book Before the King and it did not disappoint. If you have been following me for a while you know that I like to call Biblical Fiction the “what-if” writing. I call it this because it truly puts you into a position where you are wondering what if that could have happened. I mean you read the Bible but you don’t get to see the nitty gritty of every day of life or in this case learn about the characters such as Joanna who is only mentioned in the Bible a handful of time.

Oh this story… it’s so wonderfully written. The first part of the book we learn about Joanna and her life with her family. The relationship with her sister was so special. I won’t give it away but make sure you have the tissues on hand. The second part of the story it evolves to her as a wife and a follower of Christ in Herod’s kingdom. It was so great to see her talk to John the Baptist and of course encountering Jesus as he heals her body. Chills is what I got when that moment occurred… again to think of the what it would have been like for Jesus to call you by name and heal your body. To hear Jesus speak about who He is… wowza!

A million kudos to Heather Kaufman for writing such an amazing stories. For all the research and following God’s calling to write it. Praying he gives you many more stories to tell so that we may also be blessed by them.

If you enjoy Biblical Fiction go grab this book and her first one! You will love them!!

Thank you for having me on your release team! I was not required to post a positive review. All views are my own.
