Jake Silver may not be able to put the memories of his time as a sniper and Navy SEAL behind him, but
at least he can put his skills to use as a part of the Jones Inc. Rescue Team. Savin
g the life of pediatric heart surgeon Dr. Aria Sinclair on Denali helped too. Now he can't get her out of his head, and when he hears she is in the path of a hurricane in Key West he can't help but jump on a plane to rescue her.
Aria has dedicated her life to helping children born with defective hearts. After all, she was one of those children. Now driven to succeed, she lives a lonely, stressful life. One she would have lost on Denali if it hadn't been for  Jake. Jake is exciting and handsome, but he's also dangerous, and she's already lost one person she loves. She can't bear it again.

It's not until she finds herself trapped in the middle of a category 4 hurricane that she can admit she needs Jake desperately. With their very survival in the balance, can they hope for a second change at life....and love?

I don't think I have ever encountered a bad book by Susan May Warren! I fell in love with her when I read the Deep Haven Series and then discovered other authors and had not picked up one of her books until this one and OH MY GOSH!! I am so glad I did!!! I now must back track and get all of them starting with the first book in this series The Way of the Brave. A Heart of a Hero definitely picks up where the previous book ended and although I did not feel lost when reading it, it definitely would have helped to know where the story of Jake and Aria begins. But if you happen to pick it up without the first one, you should be okay!

There is definitely so much more going on in this story than just Jake and Aria's story but lets start with them. Jake is the perfect hero. Literally he jumps into the heart of danger without hesitation. You can tell from the first chapter that he is a guy that will give you the shirt off his back and help out. And this is not because he is a trained SEAL its just the was his heart and mind function. He's also a hurt soul, who blames himself for something that happens to his sister when he was younger and throughout the story he is seeking redemption he just doesn't know how to fully give in to the One who truly provides it. He feels unworthy.
Aria is a top surgeon still struggling with the fact that her twin died and gave he heart to Aria. She is a hurting soul as well and confused about the choices she has made and has to make for her career. She is given a vacation of sorts to the Keys and although reluctantly at first she goes and tries to relax but also forget how much she is captivated by handsome Jake. She

This story also introduces to a few characters. Mimi who not only refuses to leave Key West during the hurricane but also her granddaughter Yola. Mimi is full of faith and knows that everything happens according to God's plan. She plays a key role in helping Jake restore his faith in God. We also meet Angel, a pregnant young girl who seems to be living in a youth hostel in the Keys but is abandoned by her boyfriend (Jake of course finds her). We also meet Jake's family, his sisters and parents and we find the reason why Jake feels like he's not worthy of redemption. His sister Hannah.  I won't tell you too much so you can find out for yourself when you read the story but I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS regarding his family and even a few theories SO I am hoping that Susan May Warren will either delve more into his family in the next book or perhaps have a spin-off series based on Jake's sisters... seriously A LOT was going on there!

While all of that is going on the story of Ham starts developing as he finds out he is a father and has a little girl to take care of and Signe his wife who has not seen in a while and is believed to be dead.... I now am anxiously awaiting for book 3 of this series to find out more about his story!!

Although this story is definitely action packed and suspenseful the love element is definitely there and its absolutely dreamy!!! But best of all is that God's redemption is very clearly defined and stated throughout the story. Susan May warren does an excellent job at infusing her faith into her characters and the story and helps you see that without God we don't truly live.

I highly recommend you read this book and if you can get the first one make sure you do so!! If you love suspense romantic stories this will definitely be a good read for you!

Rating: 4 Stars / Loved it!
