HEART OF A PRINCESS
by Hannah Currie
Series: Daughters of Peverell, Book 2
Genre: Christian Romance, YA
Publisher: WhiteSpark
Release Date: July 15, 2020
To the watching world, Princess Alina has it all – maids to serve her, a kingdom to revere her, a prince to marry her, and a wardrobe filled with enough frills, flounces and shades of pink to rival a flower shop. But behind the smiles and designer clothes, Alina has a secret. She’s barely holding it together.
After a moment of panic almost ends in tragedy, Alina is sent to a refuge far from the palace to recuperate. Her family claim it’s for her own good but – faced with cows, knife-beaked ducks and far too many of her own insecurities – Alina is pretty sure it will kill her first. And Joha Samson, infuriating man that he is, will laugh as it does.
Only there’s more to Joha than she realizes, and more to herself too. When the time comes to make a stand, will she find the courage?
Oh my goodness!! This book was sensational... I want more of it. Okay I have been following Hannah on Instagram for a while now. I have seen her first book Heart of A Royal from her posts but unfortunately I have not read it and my library doesn't carry it. But after reading this one I must have both of them on my bookshelf. Not only because the covers are STUNNING but I am sure the writing is as superb as this one and I must read it.
I did not feel lost at all reading this story, so if you haven't read the first one you will be okay but I think it will give you a little bit more background on some of the characters and of course the kingdom of Peverell. What an amazing world Hannah Carrie has developed. I felt like I was inside the story with these characters which are very relatable... okay minus the royalty part lol! But seriously you truly fall in love with these characters and feel their pain especially the main character Alina.
Let's chat about Alina a bit... at first I wasn't sure what to think of her. I mean she was a bit snobby but then I started realizing that she was a hurt soul who struggles with extreme anxiety. She blames herself for her mother's passing, she feels betrayed by her best friend and although she is constantly surrounded by people and has a fiancee she feels completely alone. She is trying to be the perfect princess on the outside while she is crumbling on the inside. I felt for her and my heart ached for this character. She is definitely very relatable.
Because of circumstances that I won't tell you about because I don't want to ruin the book for you, her brother takes her to a place called The Well outside of the kingdom of Peverell. There she learns not only a lot about herself but about her mother as well and finds herself seeking the peace, joy and love that she sees in the people there.
We also meet Joha (insert dreamy sigh). I love the chemistry between him and Alina. She gets so frustrated with him that its comical but at the same time you know she just wants him to truly see her. See her like no one does. I won't delve too much on him because I know I will spill the beans and tell you too much and I definitely do not want to ruin the book for you... but the kissing scenes between him and Alina... BE STILL MY HEART!!! You seriously need to read this book!!
Hannah Currie does an excellent job and bringing God's presence into this book. For me it was evident throughout the whole book but these two quotes grabbed my heart completely. I think we all have been in Alina's place at one time or another and we seek everywhere without luck trying to find peace, grace and love until we truly open our eyes and see the Faithful One waiting for us with open arms.
"Because when you've known a love that accepts you - every little thing about you, even the parts that shame you so much you can't even speak them aloud -- how could you ever settle for anything less."
"God hasn't abandoned you. He never will. God calls you His. All will be well."
I definitely recommend this book to everyone. It is a clean read so this would also be perfect for a teenager. (Those teenager years are rough and this would be very relatable to them)
My Rating: 5 stars / Loved it, touched my soul!

She and her husband live with their three adorable kids in sunny Queensland, where it really is beautiful one day and perfect the next. Except, maybe, during heatwaves. They’re not so fun.
