Sadie darted from the apartment, down the stairs, and out the door. The acrid smell of burnt rubber stung her nostrils when she inhaled.
Craig stood beside the charred remains of his vehicle, batting away thick clouds of black smoke, but he looked unscathed.
Her whole body trembled in relief. She paused for two beats, then flung herself into his arms. “Thank heaven you’re all right. When I saw your car…”
“Shh. I’m all right. Everything’s okay.” He rubbed circles on her back.

About the Author
Elle E. Kay is an Angel Award–winning Christian author known for her gripping suspense and engaging romance.
